One of those days!

Today I have decided I would like to crawl back in bed and start over...nothing huge just a bunch of little things have piled up...enough for me to say "Are you kidding!?!?"
1. Re-arranging things in the fridge I spill Chicken Noodle soup (homemade mind you) all over me...of course on a day I have gotten up and dressed before the kids got up...
2. In putting away some bins of clothes no longer needed our kid bath falls on my head...
3. Get in my car to discover (by smelling the disgusting smell) that rotten milk has spilled all over my diaper bag.
4. Get home to wash said bag...washing machine shreds it into pieces...
5. Hear Blake crying during nap to find that he has locked himself in his room-this is an easy problem to solve...upon entering I see that he has squeezed lotion all over his head...not just any lotion people his $25 dollar TINY TUBE of Mederma lotion that we need for his scar!
AHHHHHH....
I did make a cute profile silhouette of the little kiddo which is quite cute and I am excited to find a picture of Claire to do the same with...

A little work to do....

Justin and Blake went on a hike this Saturday-to see the pics go to Justin's Facebook page...I know a miracle right;)-anyway on the hike Blake got to talking and Justin took the opportunity to film it. He was telling Justin a story...a story that went something like this: "Hey Dad, did you know that Noah told God to build a boat to save the animals-2 by 2-but then Jonah came and ATE The whale..." HA! So we have a little explaining and clarifying to do to make sure the right is being told to build the ark....the whale is eating the man....and the 2 stories didn't happen at the same time....but fun to hear his little mind work and see that he is thinking about what he is told....

Another Ruffle Tank for mama....

Here is a another little Ruffle Tank I made from the Ladies Tutorial from http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/ This time I used an old tank of mine with a clearance t-shirt found at Target for $2, an assortment of buttons from clothes/projects and this time I added a little rosette (same fabric from the Bubble Skirt #1). Let me know what you think:)

Little Guy Onesie

Here are some pics of a little onesie idea I had....need to come up with a way to stick the "tie" fabric to the shirt before sewing (I think a little interfacing will do that) so that the fabric doesn't wrinkle as much...but you get the idea:) Cost-Onesie $3.00, Scrap fabric and buttons from other project-Free....time about 15 minutes....

By popular demand....

Well..... not really, but 1 person asked so I thought I would show how my shirt looked on me....

Plese excuse the look of the model..time for bed...

Something for Mama

So my new favorite place as mentioned before (http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/) had this tutorial under Ladies and I thought why not try it. I took an old white t-shirt of mine I didn't like much anymore and this pink tank from Old Navy and gave it a whirl. I added the buttons as a little touch and here it is! :) I wore it on Tuesday with a little black cardigan and thought it worked well. Let me know what you think!

Bubble Skirt #2

Here is #2 Bubble Skirt-finished this one last night...I like this one too and am excited to see it on Claire. If you have old tights you never loved on your little one and some fabric you like...let me know and I am willing to teach you, make it....or you can do it yourself by following the tutorial on http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/

Little Boys are important too! :)

I had been wanting to do this for awhile and thought why not now...especially with the realization that most of my crafting ideas have involved little girly things... So Blake has this shirt and I love it-he loves it too:) This is what started this idea.... Blake also has these 2 shirts-he LOVES his Nemo-but always wants to wear it without a long shirt under it and since he always takes coats off it make it hard for him to wear for about 11 months out the year here in the Northwest when outside. This paired with this thermal-which is too short for him already but still way to wide....weird (are we the only people that have this issue????)...I think I can make the above shirt....

1. Cut the sleeves off of the long sleeve shirt at the armpit and at an angle...
2. Pin the sleeve right side out about 1.5-2 inches into the short sleeve shirt.

3. Sew together on the t-shirt-as you will see the stitches-takes a little care to now sew on top of self.

4. I added a blue stitch around the bottom since that is the color I used on the sleeves.

6. Done! New shirt!

Oh I thought why not and made this for little sis from the left over...

Nap time productivity!

So I was able to get one of my ideas done during nap/rest time this afternoon. I found these at Target a few weeks ago and really just couldn't pass them up-I had to be able to do something with them I thought! They are 60" round oil cloth tablecloths that were on sale for $1.48! Here is my first idea (I have one more left which I plan to make a few aprons out of). But today I wanted to make a drop cloth for the floor to go under "Miss Dropsies" high chair-as I am getting tired of feeling like I should mop everyday due to the nastiness that lives on the floor to the sides of her chair. So this is what I came up with....
Two 60" Table cloths made 4 drop cloths and 4 bibs-all that for $3.00 and about 1 hour!!
This is the finished drop cloth...a few more feet of space for the food to fall too...now if she starts throwing food we have a different issue...

1. Fold your tablecloth in half and cut at the fold....

2.Take a bib and place it in either corner-cut out a piece on either side of your 1/2 circle that will be big enough to trace the bib shape...

3. Trim the edges to make your cut outs less drastic of a line (you can zig-zag stitch the edges later-but you don't really have too)

4. Place the cut out pieces together wrong side facing each other-pin the bib you are using as a pattern to the top of one of the right sides and cut out the shape....

5. Zig Zag stitch along the edges.... 6. Add Velcro to the tops of the bib-you can hand sew these on or I just zig-zag stitched around the edge of the Velcro. DONE!

Here is what it looks like folded up under the high-chair for storage:)

And they are out!

Stiches are out! YEAH! Blake did great-Dr. asked if I wanted to keep them for my scrapbook...I said no thanks I will just write in the book when he got them;). Healing looks good...now for 6-9 months of rubbing the spot with suncreen/Mederma...will see how that goes.....

Bubble Skirt done....

This took me about an hour...the hardest part for me was attaching the bottom...I just had took take some time to think about it. I also learned that when ruffling fabric you shoudl pull the fabric...not the thread-as the thread can break and you have to start over...

Let me know what you think! Again I found this on http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/

1! Can't Believe it!

So Claire is 1-well actually she is almost 13 months-but we just had her party last week-it was a blast-and we felt very loved by all the people that took the time to make us part of their weekend. Last summer a friend of mine were driving and had heard the news that Blake was the name of the hour-and the 5th caller would win a bouncy house! So we both called in and she got it! So we added this craziness to the party:)
Claire is such a doll-she is sooo different from Blake, which is fun to see, currently she is enjoying:
1. Crawling in her own fashion (one knee up the other down...)
2. Saying "Baaa" for sheep (and any other animal that is)
3. Smelling her blankies (now that is JUST like her brother...who taught these kids that!)
4. Dropping her milk cup and any food she doesn't want (I could do without this as the sweeping is no fun)
5.Dancing to the music-whe really can help herself it is so cute everytime she hears music she swings her little torso from side to side..
6. Saying MaMa and DaDa when she sees us!
7. Playing with Blake (crawling around after him and annoying him...so it begins)
8. Eating anything she can off the floor...
9. Saying "All Done" and "More" with sign language
10. Giving 'kisses'
11. Coloring-which lasts for about 1 minute before it turns into eating crayon...
12. Waving hello and good bye
13. Making periodic "breaks" for the stairs-she knows she shouldn't go up there because right before she goes up she looks back and you and grins...(Don't tell me kids aren't smarter than we give them credit!)

Blake...never a dull moment...even at 2am...

So mister 3 year old decided that he wanted to get in on all the sewing that had been happening around here...not really...he tripped in the middle of the night on a expedition to use the potty (most likely because in full Linus style he was dragging his blankie with him) and hit his head on the corner of his dresser. Off to the ER we went and 5 hours later a brave boy returned with 5 stitches....

We are off to get them out today! Hope it goes well...

Throughout the whole ordeal he kept telling Justin that God was helping him...what sweet innocent faith:)
Morning after the ordeal...

Sunday afternoon idea hunting....

So I found myself not feeling so great (tummy ache) and with a great husband willing to let me rest while he watched the kiddos I rested and looked for so fun ideas to try....here is what I have going for me...

1. Long Sleeve army green shirt with stains on the front will become a short sleeved shirt with ruffles-as found on http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/ under ladies tutorials.

2. A couple of tanks and an old white t-shirt will be come a LOFT Ruffled tank from the same website mentioned above-also under ladies tutorials.

3. And awkward skirt will hopefully become a bubble skirt....u guessed it from the same sight under the same tutorials...

4. A couple t-shirts and some table cloth fabric I got from Target on sale for $3.50 will hopefully become some Lemonade Dresses...same site same tutorials....

5.Old yellow t-shirt of mine...to become another toddler skirt from http://www.sewmuchado.blogspot.com/

6. Some oil cloth table cloths (bought from Target for $2.48) turned into aprons and drop cloths to go under highchairs/kids seats:). This is my own idea so I will try to get a tutorial up too.

7. Take pictures of my Burp Cloth making-to get a tutorial up here.

First Post!

So you may have seen my previous Blog (justin-nat-blake.blogsot.com), maybe not....I am hoping to be better with this one....not only with updates/pictures about the kiddos but also as a place to show my sewing adventures as well as give tips as to how to do what I am doing. he goal being one post on each topic (kids/projects) a week. Think of this blog like this-I don't promise to reinvent the wheel-but what I find out there that I make and like (or make and do differently) I will share it with you all! Enjoy:)
