A day for the books....

So today started off like a typical day for the Dobbin's Fam...Justin off to work, Blake and Claire and I to face the day together. Today we were going to have a fun rainy morning at the Factoria Mall Kids Quest Museum...

So we got up ate breakfast (at least the kids did...not so sure I did...probably one of the reasons why this story occurred..). And were off! After an hour of hanging out at the museum the kids (and I) were done. That place is great from 10-11-quiet, fun, enjoyable, around 11 though it turns into a CRAZY place. So Blake picked a bench and we sat down and ate a little snack.

I was tired....another factor in this story...we had been up late the night before (something about signing up for swimming lessons...which was CRAZY because when I woke up this am to see if staying up to do so was worth it I found out it was....all the spots in Blake's class GONE!). Yikes. But I know I had my phone because I got a text from Justin-read it and put my phone in my back pocket.

The Factoria mall is smart...by the kids museum is an Osh Kosh and a PetCo....2 stores that are attractive to the demographic of people who would go to a kids museum...so Blake wanted to see the animals before we left, I am all for a free zoo visit, so we did. Upon leaving I decided we should use the restroom (we have had a few close calls in the car recently). This is where the story really begins...

That bathroom is a NIGHTMARE-and 2 kids in it is worse! Blake goes potty...while Claire is dropping her snack, trying to eat it, yelling because I threw it away....Blake then gets done-pushes Claire for screaming...at some point I took my phone out of my back pocket due to the fact that I could feel it start to fall as I helped Blake get situated...in the chaos (plues hunger/exhausted state) I left it on the counter...

We go into Osh Kosh (which by the way is having ALL their stuff at 50% off including Melissa and Doug toys-which never happens) and they will let you use other coupons if you have them as well. Probably spent 10 minutes getting a few said things and went to the car...where I realized I didn't have the phone...ran back to PetCo...no phone in bathroom...really sad/upset...I left my number and went home.

Now I was a bit freaked out because at the same time a NASTY mysterious you Tube video appeared on my Facebook wall...so with the help of Justin we changed passwords and logged me out of my accounts so they couldn't' be accessed from my phone.

Then Justin called to activate a tracking device on my phone...to which the lady said "NO" Justin said "Are you sure? The phones have GPS you are sure their is no tracking system" To which she says "Well we have this family track plan which is free for 30 days." Justin replies"Uh yeah lets try that..." (what in the world?!?!) She says "Okay but the phone will get a text saying they are being tracked and they might just turn the phone off." to which Justin says..."Well let's still just try it."

To our luck and surprise it WORKED! Justin "worked" while watching the phone go from Newcastle, to Renton Highlands, to the Hospital, and finally back to a home along Maple Valley Highway in Renton (of course right!?!?). He did some cross checking and knocked on the door...

When he does a man answers-tall large man-Justin says "I am sorry to bother you but my wife lost her phone and our tracking device on it says it is at this address, anyone here happen to pick one up?" He says "No." But behind him is his 4 year old granddaughter who shouts "Yeah! Mom picked one up in the bathroom! Mommy found one!" In walks teenage girl who says "Wow that is so crazy it tracked me, yeah I picked it up in the bathroom you know cause the phone was almost dead." Justin said "Thanks, and maybe next time you find a phone just give it to the store people because probably someone will come back for it." To this she says "Well it was already almost dead so I thought I would take it..."

Justin left it at that (clearly that is logical because once a phone dies you can never use it again!?!?) And came back with my phone...so crazy....

If you made it to the end of the story-thanks for reading-hope you were entertained by our shenanigans:)

Oh My...

So on my little shopping trip...see Redemption Post...I found some really cheap boxer brief underwear for Blake...so I grabbed it. Blake thought is was funny that it looked like "Dad" so he wore it no problem. I however did NOT anticipate the FIGHT to wear the typical "tightie whities" the next day...what did he yell at me when I was trying to tell him we only had 2 of the new underwear..."Mom those look like GIRL underwear...I am NOT wearing Mommy underwear!"
YIKES....

Profile Pictures

My Niece-Anabelle-2 years.
My other "Niece" Paige-2 years old.
Some of you might have seen these...I posted them to Facebook a couple of days ago. I made them following the instructions on www.rufflesandstuff.com tutorial under Home.
Basically you pic a profile picture ( or other) that you like and you think will be recognizable without the definition of the picture. Then I increase the size if I need to, in publisher, paint, or word...I am sure there are other programs but that is what I use.
Print the picture in its new size, carefully cut out. Then trace onto card stock, glue to a contrasting paper, add details if you want, and frame!
Cheap, easy, fun art!

Redemption for the store!

Those of you who read this blog know that I had a ROUGH shopping experience a week ago...but I wanted to update you that the store redeemed themselves...or shall I say the Owner of the store. I went back to get my $5 gift card that the worker had offered me for my trouble, and the owner met me and apologized profusely for me being treated like that, said they would honor my coupon and to take as much time as I needed (it was about 1 hour from closing).

Sometimes I wonder if it is good to stand up for myself...this time it paid off. :)
